A new sponsor and two more years of Adventure Races

After supporting my Adventure Races in 2006 and 2007, adidas had to say goodbye. I’m very grateful for their support, and with R’ADYS – an innovative Swiss outdoor brand – we were able to secure a new title sponsor right away.

In 2008 and 2009, our Adventure Racing series grew – also thanks to collaborations with other organizers – and we hosted events in the Bavarian Forest, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Immenstadt, and Jena.

Adventure Racing is all about teamwork, being out in nature, and pushing yourself across a wide range of disciplines. As an organizer, the possibilities are almost limitless – provided you have the necessary permissions from landowners and authorities. Every race was unique.

Eventually, however, I had to accept that turning it into “my” business wouldn’t work. Salomon stepped away from Adventure Racing and redirected its budget toward trail running. The sport was simply too niche. It’s still around – and quite popular in some countries – but it never grew to the level needed to build a stronger foundation, both in terms of participants and sponsors.

I had learned a great deal, met incredible people, and truly enjoyed the experience. Just take a look at the photos – you’ll see why!
