Step into a world few travelers ever experience.
You want to discover Bhutan but are not interested in running an ultra? No problem! We are putting together a series of adventurous trips to the Land of the Thunder Dragon that take place before and after the Bhutan Ultra — and they have nothing to do with ultra running. We will start with an incredible journey to the Royal Highland Festival.
Get to know Bhutan’s remote northern highlands, where culture, tradition, and breathtaking nature come together in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. This experience takes you deep into the mountains to witness the Royal Highland Festival, a vibrant celebration of Bhutanese heritage hosted in the village of Laya at 4,000 meters. Surrounded by dramatic peaks, you’ll be welcomed by yak herders, enjoy cultural performances, and experience the living traditions of the Layap people.
But the adventure doesn’t stop there. If you want, you’ll also take part in the legendary Laya Run — a challenging but unforgettable mountain race that follows rugged trails through pristine alpine landscapes. Whether you run or hike, this event is about more than kilometers; it’s about joining an extraordinary community of locals and adventurers, moving together across some of the most stunning terrain on earth.
This trip blends cultural immersion, high-altitude adventure, and the rare chance to be part of two of Bhutan’s most iconic experiences.
